1984 930 Rear Seat ?
My 930 (1984) does not have anything to hold the upper portion of the rea seats in the up position. Can someone tell me if my car should have the leather straps with buttons or the clip/pins in the bottom of the seat. Also is there a good source for these parts?

Here is the Porsche PET for 1984-1986 911, including Turbo, and all of the rear seat parts/part numbers are on pages 367 +. Some, if not all, of the parts are available through Pelican (or any other Porsche parts dealer).

You don't have the little red spring -loaded release pins, such as are shown in this picture?

I've got nothing but a couple of seats flopping around in the back. I would prefer the red pins over the straps, but I just want to double check before I order one or the other

I think the 83-84s had leather straps with snaps that held the seats up position.

According to the PET, which I posted a link to above, 1984 used the pins (of course, the years following did, as well).

I did look at the PET pages on this link which indicate model year 1986. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that 1986 was the first year for the "modern" interior with the newer dash vent designs and a few other miscellaneous bits. My car is not exactly a correct restoration by any means. However I would like it to appear factory at a glance and have the ability to return it to stock with little effort should I ever decide to do so before I'm buried in it. Anyone else have an 84? |

I didnt mean to imply that I had those red pin doohickies. By buttons I meant snaps for the leather straps.

Now that is definitely interesting about 1984 with straps, as the PDF link above, while saying "1986" at the top of it, is straight from the Porsche website and it claims it is for model years, 1984-1986.

Is there any difference in the rear seat brackets of earlier strap-type to support the red button releases? Always thought the strap was kind of a old-school (circa-356) solution by Porsche.
BTW, my '85 RoW slant has the straps.
