Porsche buys ANDIAL - What's up with that?

Porsche Motorsports North America has purchased the ANDIAL name:

Motorsport News

I wonder if it is to race cars under the nostalgic ANDIAL name, or something else?

I like it, now the cars they built will get the nod from the original only crowd that needs to read up on Porsche history to be able to appreciate all the good things out there other than just garage queens.
Besides I have a Andial modded 930

What kind of mods did they do on 930's? Don't know much about their work. Seems like it would be held in high regard though, considering their on-track record.

This one i have is a aubergine 1977 street 930 that was in the Long Beach area until I got it about 12 years ago. The motor had been rebuilt by them more than once before I got it due to over boosting to over 500HP according to the previous owner. The mods are Weltmeister race suspension, the later floating disc 917 brakes, 8" & 10" wide titanium BBS wheels, alumimium 934 front valance over 2 front oil coolers, Ruf short bellhousing 5spd, a large custom intercooler with a competition raised tea tray spoiler to fit it under, 98 MM cylinders, head work and other mods to achieve around 400hp @ 1.0 bar with 934 12 lead distributer and some other things I probably forgot. In the last rebuild they changed cams to later 993 race cams . It now has around 75K miles. A definite favorite to drive.

ANDIAL worked on my 1975 930 Turbo in Summer of 1975. I would love to have an ANDIAL windshield decal that was on my car in 1976.

Seems like a number of cars went through Andial's doors at one point or another. Mine went there for its first round of mods, and then off to AJR for its facelift.. all at the hands of the original owner.

I guess last years purchase by Porsche is kind of akin to Mercedes' purchase of AMG years ago.

Good, wrong or indifferent it was a business decision; no more competition, it is all Porsche now, so I believe that Andial will definitely go away now.

I bought a car with a 79 930 motor that had their fuel enrichment, adjustable boost (dial of death), and a bigger turbo. The car I bought was an 84 Carrera converted over to a turbo many years back at great expense I am sure.

Actually it was cronyism. Alwin is still the defacto leader of PMNA and Dieter is the sole living partner. I consider it a well deserved retirement fund and imply nothing nefarious by calling it cronyism. Those guys were themselves PMNA before there was such a thing.

Let's leave it at that, no cronyism involved. ArNold Wagner, DIeter Inzenhofer, and ALwin Springer were Porsche Motorsport in the USA throughout the 1980's.

Back in the day they had a cool catalog which at the time was like the Christmas Sears toy catalogs of the 60's. I talked to 2 of the three over the years about one improvement or another. At the time they were building most of the good IMSA 962 engines. All the races were on ESPN with good old Bob Varsha. They would show Springer in the pits almost every race.

I meant no offense:
"Cronyism is partiality to long-standing friends, especially by appointing them to positions of authority..."

I have the utmost respect for those guys. Just a couple weeks ago Dieter called me with some questions on one of my parts. He's currently working on restoring Follmer's RSR.

Thanks guys. I was familiar with ANDIAL from Bruce Anderson's book, and the Starkey book. Springer et. al. should do a book on ANDIAL, and/or join this forum!
