Tire porn. Can I get some springtime please?

Thanks to the global warming caused sub zero never ending winter it will be a while before I get to try these out, but I just had Toyo Proxes R888 rubber mounted today for the 930. They are so sticky they picked up every spec of dirt and sand on the shop floor as they rolled them to the door. Yeah, they should last about a month

They will be paired with my other winter project of ER polybronze bushings, ER front/rear monoballs, new stock sway bar bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints, HD strut inserts and rear shocks.

Also put in new rings thanks to shattered sets in #1 and #6. JFairman, you suggested that last year because of my blowby symptoms, but I didn't think it was possible because the rebuilt motor only had 10k miles on it. Good call buddy.

Dammmm I'm jonesing to get out and drive!! Cheers.

I've been running the R888 on my car since the middle of last season. I got 2-3 seconds faster on my lap times as a result, vs. the yokohamas I was running previously. The R888 are a little more noisy, but otherwise no complaints. They are very sticky. My home track has a lot of tire clag and the R888 have picked up so much rubber (especially in front) that the wheel balance is way off. It's so bad I really don't like to drive the car on the street because the front end shimmy that results at highway speeds. I remounted the factory Fuchs with yokohama rubber this winter so I can stand to drive the car on the streets when the ice age finally ends.

The TOYO R888 are great tires, no issues with using them on the street at all. Only reason I switched away from them was that the 235 is the largest 15 inch tire they have.

This NJ snow sucks donkey d ! c k! At least last night I got to take the 930 for a short spin before the next batch of weather hits us. Had to get things out of the garage requiring me to me move the car. Didn't want to run the car without getting it up to operating temp. Plus, the turbo loooooveeeess this cold air!

I'm jealous John!

Last time I drove my turbo it was zero degrees. Loved it! I'm going to have to put headers, a K27 and a 1.0 bar spring on for when it's hot out so I don't think the car is slow compared to cold air boost...

Great tires. I have them mounted on my primary set of wheels. You'll love them.

Toyo R888's on a set of my wheels:

And yes.... They pick up everything on the road. Be prepared for that. But the grip on the street is awesome when warmed up!

Chris.

Those are sharp rims Chris. I'm kind of tiring of the chrome on my Kinesis, but not in the mood to do anything about it this year. I really like the black ones on the 997 in the background of my tire shot, but that would be too much on a black car.
