t-minus 6 weeks till boost-off!

Ok fellers...listen up!

Believe it or not, there are only 6 weeks until turboPALOOZA 2014: "Special Stages"

Based on responses to this thread and offline discussions, I have 4 confirmed heads who are IN for the Monticello track day. With the day approaching, now is the time that I need to firm up this headcount definitely so the staff at Monticello can arrange for instructors (and I expect they will want some $$ to secure the spots). This was posted above already but the cost for 1/2 day with a professional instructor is $550. Those who want to just hang out at the club and spectate, there is a $50 entry fee. Pricing includes gourmet chef prepared lunch, and the club's signature fresh baked chocolate chip cookies during the afternoon sessions. No joke on the cookies either...nothing like coming in from some hot laps and having a plate of cookies hot from the oven to munch on

current list of "I'm tracking my car" people:
GSXRKen
TTSurgeon
KrasuskyP
kozmo930

You folks and anyone else who is ready to commit please take this off forum and email me: j w asbury at verizon spot net. I need to connect you with the club so they can gather necessary info to secure your spots. Please don't PM me as I may not see it for days.

For any other activities, including spectating and lunch at the club, a firm headcount is not crucial, but I'd appreciate off-forum contact from anyone who plans to make the scene on one or more of our planned days just so I have an idea who is coming.

Hub of operations will be Quakertown, PA area (Bucks county). My "mini-farm" is 8 miles east of the boro in Haycock Township and will serve as a base camp. We can do some BBQ here, have a camp fire, and I have a pool for people to cool off in.

recap of the planned weekend:

Thursday July 24 - PM arrival/hang out/dinner/nightlife/etc.
Friday July 25 - road run (Northeastern/Central PA) follow by more hang time/dinner/nightlife/etc.
Saturday July 26 - Monticello by noon for lunch, run the course for the afternoon, followed by hang time/dinner/nightlife/etc.
Sunday July 27 - playtime is over, nothing left to see, please disperse.

For Friday's road run, I am currently planning a route through area back-roads. Considering a route that will allow a visit to Centralia, PA. This is a ghost town where the residents were forced to move due to an underground coal fire that has been burning since the 60's (and is expected to keep going for decades)Centralia, Pennsylvania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. We could also stop in Pottsville and visit the oldest brewery in the USA Visit America's Oldest Brewery | Yuengling Brewery Pottsville, PA. Tours at 10am and 130pm on the 25th. Other potential activities on Friday could include shooting sporting clays Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays

Any locals who are tuning in, I welcome route suggestions.

Finally, regarding accommodations, there are several hotels in the boro of Quakertown, especially near the PA turnpike interchange. I can also host some guests at my home.

That is all for now

update - one month away now!

Deadline for registration to go on track for the 26th is July 11th. This gives the club sufficient time to arrange for instructors. I will also need to know everyone who plans to be a non-driving guest.

Contact me directly at jw asbury AT verizon dot net. I will put you in touch with the staff at Monticello so they can get your details.

Where did you get yours? I ordered one from a dealer and the part number I had was the wrong half of the plug.
I have this link to one too. Is this the same part# you have? I ask because there is a 14 pin plug for the 924 and 944 harness that looks the same as the one for a 911/930 but it's bigger and won't work.

You guys always need to check with fellow Pelicans when in trouble ... Dennis Powell here on pelican is making all new stuff from his own molds .
this is the one I just received and you really can't tell that it is not OEM , all numbers match pin location and fits very well .

ugh... looks like spun rod bearing.
had that happen in a BMW 2002 motor 32 years ago. the crank was trashed and turned out the rod cap had been installed backwards by someone before i bought the car.

935...looking like intermediate shaft bearing failure. rod bearing failure makes a different noise.

Wow Pete...that's looks pretty gnarly. No wonder that this may have contributed to problems with chain tensioner? Bummer.

Alex-

I said I'd call you last week - sorry - was up to my arsehole in trying to get mah car on ze oad.

I'll call you after lunch today if you're avail!

Should be Matt (reachme) coming from RI to me here in CT, then us grabbing John (citrus) down 84 in SE CT and continuing out 84 to PA then south to Jake's... not sure if you'd want to meet us from LI or aim to join Jake in Jersey City and whomever else might be going from that area and join them. Chris (TT surgeon) is also on LI so maybe you can hookup w/ him?

gsxrKen's in Westchester, not sure if he'd hook up w/ you guys down there or us up here?

Rey (speednme) is joining us possibly Sat I think so he'd not be in the Thurs eve rendezvous?

anyone else?
