Smile NOS 1988 Turbo -- Slantnose Cabriolet with 2,397 miles

Here's something we rarely see, and proof that yes, we do work on stock Porsches, too:

Nearly 100% original 1988 Slantnose Cabriolet with only 2,397 miles.

Totally stock engine, rubber hoses still have the waxy film on them, underside still has cosmoline oversprayed everywhere.
Totally stock interior, no visible wear.
The tires still have the little molding threads on them.
Factory painted Fuchs look like new, beautiful paint on the inside of the rim, little supports for the valve stems.

It's a time capsule! We're excited to work on it.

The only thing that we can see has been changed is the prior owner installed KYB rear shocks. We're guessing he complained it rode harshly, this the cheapest 911-compatible shocks available... They'll be replaced with correct green Bilsteins.

Like many 911s that are essentially never driven, it developed drips once started again and warmed up, plus the turbocharger was spitting a little oil. The current owner trailered it in for service:
- a new stock turbocharger
- replace any suspect seals and gaskets, even if it means dropping the engine (ex: RMS)
- correct Bilstein rear shocks
- anything else needed to otherwise put it in tip-top shape, make it ready for sale

I thought NOS meant it had nitrous, but that's good, because nitrous is cheating in my book

That doesn't look like a brake cooling duct... What's behind the slats on the passenger side?

That's the oil cooler. The US model Slants were equipped with those since a front mounted oil cooler was thought to have been a fire hazard. A Slant with a front mounted oil cooler is either a Euro model or an aftermarket fitment.

That is the passenger's side. As this car was not ordered with the optional 930-S front valence, the supplemental cooler is in the right rear fender duct.

There's nothing behind the driver's side, it's a brake duct.

Chris,
Beautiful car. Too bad no one really drove it much to enjoy it. Did that car sell to Pelicanite "spoil" already?

No, it did not sell to him as of now. He and the owner may get together in the morning.

Not surprisingly, the seller is looking to get well over $100k for it. There's just not that many 1988 Slantnose Turbo Cabs in existence, and fewer still have <5k miles. I'm not a market watcher, but if you want one of these, where else are you going to find one like it? It's practically a new car.

If that were my car, I'd have to sell it too... There is no way I could stop myself from driving it.

How do people resist that temptation? I suppose you need a few dozen cars, then it's easy.

I wish I had the cash to buy one of these time capsule cars.

I'd pick it up in person and do a nasty burnout in full view of the previous owner while smoking a cigarette in the drivers seat. All to start off an epic road trip back home that would triple the original miles.

The owner won't care. He will be laughing that he just made $40k or more on the car
