Considering modifying 2009 997 Turbo

I would be interested the pro/cons of modifying the above turbo. Do the mods significantly add to engine wear so shorten the life of the engine or no impact. I know the turbo is plenty fast to start with but always interested in increasing the level of enjoyment, fast, sound and handling.

Also interested in where to start (exhaust, chip, suspension etc....) and what are the recommended upgrades. Thank you, just traded in a '04 C4S for the Turbo. I had upgraded the C4S with headers, cold air intake, short shift, chip, and radar defense so hated to see it go but think I am really going to enjoy the turbo. Thanks for any suggestions and recommendations.

From memory, a chip is all you need for over 600hp.

Tubi and a chip is all you need.

Ck out rennlist and 6speed, the 997tt mezger gt1/g50 6mt is a killer combo. 2009 is considered the best yr for the 997.1tt bc of the improved PCM and last of the "good engines".

Any modification over stock that produces more HP will have a long-term effect on the engine.

Just as you would go from stock to 600HP...700HP...etc, that rate of wear on the engine significantly drops as a function of HP.

And don't forget...the rest of the car has to come along for the ride, so the stress on the dynamic components such as brakes/suspension/transmission all have to be taken into consideration.

I would start with new turbos and a tune

The stock VTG turbos are fine for up to 650+hp, all you need is an exhaust and basic tune to have reliable 550-600hp.

OEM turbos can be modified to billet compressor very cost effectively ;)
