Move to MA. Any car that does not have OBD II does not have smog testing. Safety yes, but that's easy. The only bugger is the second plate. I always wire tie it on, then off it comes. Never have had a problems, but our state is behind on that issue for antique cars. MD only requires one plate.

^ MA seems to have it right for inspections on older vehicles. NJ is bass ackwards...when they cost-cut the Motor Vehicle inspection program, they eliminated safety, and kept only emissions. In NJ your car can have non functional brakes, non functional lights, non functional windshield wipers, non functional horn, but none of those things will be tested. Therefore, so long as the tailpipe emissions are within spec, you're good to go. fookin amazing!

historic plates not needed - this '79 runs as clean as the state of NJ requires
