VIN # by tank help needed??

Hi guys was wondering is tis is normal.
was at my friends garage he had an 86 930 with no stamping there
an 89 911 Carrera with stamping
and my car an 89 930 with no stamp numbers.
thanks for your imput

I would definitely have to say not normal... perhaps the front ends have been replaced... any other VIN identifications on the cars? Should have stickers on the hood and rear decklid, door jam etc.

For the cars you are looking at;
  • The front floor area (other than the gas tank) showing in your picture should be sprayed the same color as the exterior (but no where near as nice).
  • The area you have circled in red is always black

Heavy paint (undercoating) or multiple layers of paint may be hiding the numbers. They should all be there, starting with a * (star) and ending with a similar *.

Looks like the front tub has been changed. Last year I almost bought another 89 Slant, it had the whole front section replaced. The replacement body parts from Porsche come with that rubber piece blank.

Have him look under the dash and behind the carpets where your feet go to see if there is any type of flat black sealant overspray. If it is as shiny and smooth as the exterior then that whole front tub been changed.

compared with my friend 930 and his serial number is not on that plate but to the right of it and could not see mine since it was under the strut bar.I am releaved
