I've been using 15w 40 dino Rotella up until now but will switch to synthetic after break in on my rebuild. I buy Rotella and Delo by the five gallon pail for oil changes in the boats I run and I get a break on the price. Even with my discount I can buy five quarts of Mobil 1 15W 50 or 10 40 at Walmart for less than a gallon of T6 from my distributor. Is there a reason you are looking at the T6 over the Mobil 1 ?

I've never run Mobil 1 in the 87. The price is insanely cheap and found a little coking in my older turbo with Valvoline VR-1.

Were you using the amber colored non synthetic VR-1 or the blue colored fully synthetic VR-1?
The sythetic VR-1 has more ZDDP, a higher flashpoint that shouldn't coke, and cost twice as much (usually around $10 a quart) as the non synthetic VR-1.
