Lightbulb OT: Charging batteries in your shop

So I have always had the problem of run down batteries, owning multiple cars, especially in winter. I have tried with regular battery chargers, for some 20 bucks from the equivalent to homedepot here in Germany, which didnt keep the batteries alive longer than a season.

A friend with an mini caravan style mobile shop (in the back of a vespa Ape!) built a double battery charger for his fun vehicle, but doesnt need the electrical charger setup anymore, I bought it for 100 bucks, disassembled.

The previous usage was to maintain power in the caravan with multiple devices attached, while plugged in when stationary or via the engine with batteries when without land power supply.

So thinking that's not far from what I need, with the added bonus of having multiple car charger 12V outlets for the innovate sensor for example, at one fifth of purchase value, sounds like a steal.

I am wondering whether this will work for a battery charging station for my shop?
Anyone with previous experience on this, or similar setups?

What's your solution for the initial problem?

Cheers!

Wow, that's neat, but seems like a lot.
I have several cars and when stored I just unhook the ground. Some sit longer than winter. However, hook-up the ground,
(re-set the clock on those that have it) and away we go. Every time.

Quick disconnect on negative battery terminals works well.

well,in my experience it is always helpful to have extra batteries, charged, and to be able to revamp the ones that are low, quickly. WHen working with pre 70ies cars, I feel there's a lot of that.

Any one else using tools for battery maintenance?

Perhaps I'm not understanding, but wouldn't you just use one of these?

I have a bunch of Ctek and Diehard battery maintainers. They've worked well for the past few years. If I have a dead battery, I have booster packs and a heavy duty charger.

I have one of those, but I don't like the cigarette lighter charger. It is hard wired so I can't swap out to the clips or directly to the battery.

I have a harbor freight 1.5 amp regulated one that still works 7 years later. They're all made in China so who cares what label is on it.

Only the people who want the PORSCHE name I would imagine.
