Tail light housing/fastener help please

To make a long story short I am trying to find a new housing and the housing to body fasteners. There are multiple part numbers listed by our host....

My housing on the backplate lists:
911.631.404.31

Pelican (and Sierra Madre) shows for 86 930:
901-631-942-00

They also list for 87-89 Carrera (they list the same part number for left and right side as well):
911-631-404-35

I think i need the housing since the cover screws corroded and snapped.

These fasteners are also too corroded to be salvaged. Any idea where to get replacements?

They slip over the tabs in body and have a captured nut with a nylon lock.

Thanks for any help...getting pretty sick of everything on this car being corroded.

FWIW - I went though that last year and was able to have a machine shop tig a stud to the snapped bolt. The heat helped loosen it up enough to get it out.
I also happen to have a housing w/cover that they came out without problem, but the spring terminal for one of the bulbs broke off the housing. I was going to take a bulb socket and imbed it in its place, but never needed to use this housing. If you get desperate, let me know.

Thanks man, glad I am not the only one.

I think by the time i find a shop to try to tig it I would be out about the same money as a new housing. Plus there's nothing really to weld to, the screws snapped flush with the housing post. ugh.

Is yours a passenger or drivers side housing?

After more sluething I found a thread with details on the captive nuts, added below for any other hapless idiot who embarks on replacing their taillight seals.

The captive nuts are here:

Drivers side.

Bummer, well when I break that side I will send you a PM. :(

Anyone have any idea what the correct part numbers are for the housings?

If you're still looking I may have a pair of housings from an '87 Carrera that I could part with. I've seen numerous housing from numerous years and don't recall any differences between any of them, so I don't know why they have different part numbers. I could be wrong though.

Let me know and if needed I'll dig them out of storage.

Thanks Scott, PM sent.

Here are some pictures for you:

This first pair I believe came from an '85 Carrera. Unfortunately there is no part number anywhere on the housings to confirm this. These are pretty nice, no/minimal corrosion, need to be cleaned, and have the harness plugs pushed back into the housings.

This other pair I believe came from an '87 Carrera. One of them has part number 911.631.404.31 (same as your '86). This pair is a bit dirtier, one of them has some corrosion on the rear cover, and one harness plug has to be reinserted.

It's entirely possible I have the years of these housings swapped. In other words the second pair may be from the '85, and the first pair from the '87. I'm not 100% sure but based on what the internet is telling me about the 911.631.404.31 part number this may be the case.
