Front suspension pan repair

Today I took the car over to my buddies place for some rust repair and suspension upgrades, It was nice to see her outside in the daylight again even if it was overcast.

New suspension pan/fuel tank support and coil over conversion coming up

I have the exact same rust issues on my 81SC. It's a tough job, I did it on my
66 912 . My little mig welder took a crap recently. I have the new pan for my
81 so I just need to carefully cut out the old pan. I have a acetylene touch but
I prefer to mig weld in the new one vs gas. Guess I will be buying a new mig
soon. Home depot has one with a adapter for gas (argon) etc for $500.

I didn't see them in the pics, but did you get the U-shape reinforcement plates that welds over the threaded inserts on the front a-arm mounts?

The plate over the two inserts below (ignore the smaller plate, I added that):

I like that plate over the front pick up point, gonna use that idea
We are using the 935 front suspension so any added reinforcement is welcome.

Thanks guys

I'm using the 935 suspension also, so I figured why not reinforce all three bolts. It's only tacked in the pic, but was fully welded later.

Just an FYI, my new pan had one of the front bolts offset so it didn't line up with the 935 front plate. Had to drill out the spot welds and relocate it.
