Calling all my Turbo friends with Lindsey Fuchs, I ask for your guidance....
 

Specifically, if you have any pictures and advice. What size did you get? what width? what size tire do you run? are your sizes getting harder to find? how is the ride? quality of them?

I am approaching a point where I need to go up from 16s, and I want to go pretty wide out back, but I really want a deep dish look, minimal spacer.

It is either this or have some BBS RSs re-barreled / offset / refaced to be 17 or 18 inch.

Talk me into / out of it guys. Plus I wanna see what a black center polished lip looks like on guards red. But ANY pictures are helpful. Please only Lindsey current / former owners or people with legit DIRECT knowledge. wanna keep this thread kinda sleek.

I have 17x8 17x11's and initially wanted to go with 9's on the front but was talked out of of it due to steering issues with a wider wheel/tire for non-track driving situations (my car will only ever see a track from the parking lot) I am running 315's on the back and would have to double check the size upfront. I am running Kumho Ecsta tires and have had a couple choices to choose from. I am happy with the ride as it is a bit stiffer that the 16's and to be quite honest it's a sports car it should feel like one! Mike is great to deal with and will help you through this process.

Problems:
1. I had to have 2mm machined off off each of my rear spacers. Under full load my car was squatting pretty hard and rubbing slightly.

2. Finding a set of doner 16x6 wheels. I had to buy two sets of Fuchs and sell the 17x7's separate.

3. The BBS RS route was also my second choice (I even had a set of RS wheels) barrels and parts were very difficult to find when I was in your boat.

…i am nothing but ecstatic about my lindsey fuchs, and i went with the 8 X 17 fronts, 9.5 X 17 rears because i didn't want to deal with any rubbing whatsoever with the 11 X17's in the back - not that i would have for certain…no problems at all finding tires…while on those tire dot com places, i went from one (1) option of kumho's in the 16" sizing for BBS RS to about 6 pages worth of selections for the 17's…my big concern was whether or not to polish the lip - which would appear bigger on the taller rim…i didn't want my 930 in any way looking like a troupe of clowns could-should-would jump out at any minute - like a lot of the BIG rim looks these days…so i had lindsey, who's a great guy to work with, powder the as you see in the picture…yes, there are some other nice options to be seen, but i wanted fuchs, without the tire situation…hope this helps...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1404012582.jpg

I am loving it guys, cdill, those polished are pure sex, in fact pics of your car inspired me on these, but the all black looks great, but might be a bit too much black on the red car.

I like the fat 11s out back, but how close do they get to the suspension bits?

also, what aspect ratio are you guys running on those? not just width and rim.

You could run the 8's or 9's on the front, but should consider 11's or 12's on the rear. Either 245 or 255 fronts and 315/35/17 rears. I believe the 315's only come in a 35 aspect. Either a 245 or 255/40/17 on the 8's or 9's.
The tire will be about a 1/2" lower on the 9's vs the 8's.

won't big 245 rub up front? Mine is lowered and with 225s I already rub the washer bottle.

I have Lindsey Fuchs and I would suggest 8's up front over 9's. I was somehow able to rub the tire into my right fender at Euro ride height with 8's. The suspension isn't very soft with 22mm T-bars and Bilstein Sport struts in the front.

I have never had an issue with the rear setup.

Front: 8x17 with 5.5 backspace. Toyo R888 245/40/17

Rear: 11x17 with 6.5 backspace. 6mm spacer. Toyo R888 315/40/17

Groovie Ghoulie: What's the aspect ratio of the 225?
Porsche Gal: I believe your rear tires are 315/35/17 not 315/40

Looking at the Toyo r888: the 225/45 are 25" tall, the 235/40 are 24.6" tall, 245/40/17 are 24.7" tall, and the 255/40 are 25.1" tall. By going to a 1" wider wheel typically lowers the dia. by 1/2".
Somewhere the tire manufactures state what rim width they are using to come with the tire diameter.

You may be rubbing if your using a stock 911 backspacing of 4 7/8". On our '75 Carrera RS race car I ran 944 8x16 Fuchs with a back spacing of 5.5" and 255 tires with no rubbing issues. I use to build my own 3 pc wheels. I always used 5.5 back spacing on the 8" or 9" x 17's on the front with no issues. Also use to run 235/35/17's on the slant nose to clear the headlight buckets.
If you want even more room you can use a 912 front hub which is 1/2" narrower than a 911. But you will need to add spacers to clear the shock.

225/50/16 kumho ecstas

FYI - The toyo R888's are great tires as I run them on one of my sets. I would just caution you that they are wider than a traditional street tire. I am running 255's on both of my sets with 9" wheels and same offset. The set with the Toyo's occasionally rubs due to their width and the other set with Michelin PS2's does not. Just wanted to make you aware of it.

Also - my guy who does the mounting for me had a pretty hard time getting the Toyo's to road force balance. We kept having to turn them. The fronts weren't so bad, but the rears were really hard. Love them though! VERY stiff compared to the PS2 on the road however. at 28psi they feel like they are at 48psi compared to the PS2.

For 17" fitment you might want to consider the Nitto NT-05's. I would also suggest a 9" wheel up front with either a 245 or 255. An 8" wheel will make a 245 stand very upright whereas the 9" wheel will be more ideal for a front wheel fitment and give you the width to run a 255.

Not sure if this will help. Our 75 Carrera RS (turbo body). Fronts are 8.5 x 16 w/Toyo 225/45/16's. 5.5" backspacing with 1" spacer (930 turbo brakes & front hubs). I run the 225/45's on the slantnose to clear the headlight buckets. Rears are 11x17's w/315/35/17's. Spacers added to push the tire out.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1404075279.jpg

I currently have 7 inch BBS RS's up front and it rubs the black bottle at the front of the drivers side at full lock.

I second the 9's and 11's with 245/40/17 and 315/35/17 fits perfect, in fact there is even room to go a little wider if you wanted.

9x17 and 11x17 work well. Also went with 245 and 315s

315's look mean as hell, but they are big and heavy. I went with 8.5x17" and 10x17" on my Zuffenhaus wheels knowing I wanted to run 235 fronts and 275 rears, common sizes that should continue to be available long term. I find this combo very well balanced for most driving.
