heat control box/flap

hot air blows into cabin uncontrollably. heater control lever opens and closed heat control boxes, at least it appears to from the outside, and the springs seem OK. I suspect that the flap inside the box has failed. I have two new ones coming from our host.

I will start applying penetrating oil on nuts this evening and letting it sit for a couple of days until parts arrive.

any other suggestions or advice?

for follow-up and possible edification: the heat control boxes appear to be operating correctly. with a little lubrication, the flap in the box pivots as it should. i think the control wire connecter may have slipped on the left box thus allowing hot air through even though the control lever in the cockpit was closed. I pulled a little more of the wire through and tightened it. bent it after the nut so it won't slip again. took it for a spin on I-75 and it seems to work correctly.

Sweet fix, I was kind of looking forward to see the replacement as my driverside box is cooked. The shop forced it closed for summer thankfully.
