I like the description that included the selling highlights of the car as well as the blemishes. He did't portray the car to be a museum piece or inflate it visually/mechanically. Well written and honest evaluation.
Wish more sellers represented their cars that way.

sold @ $111k, market correct IMHO and no bs star premium
someone got a really really well sorted clean straight blk/blk '77 (tho I'd have preferred to see the seat / vents addressed @ that fare) - pretty cool and agreed, Chris - I found that ad spot-on and quite well done on a lot of levels... to me, a near perfect FS ad and no bs refreshing bubble eh? Bubble this. Last edited by krasuskyp; 10-28-2014 at 06:11 PM.. |

Was worth a lot more in my opinion,
Early 930's are still the cheapest vintage supercar money can buy Someone once penned a term for it i dont remember who, quote--"The Porsche 930 is the poor mans supercar" Or something like that ![]()

So if with it that well advertised and that well portrayed. I'd say it's worth $111k. It could use some freshening up and if it had done so it might have done $125k but we'll never know eh? |

^excellent summation^
and agreed - a bit more attention to a few key areas and it should have pulled more... but like you said, who knows now |

I think it was saved from the extreme scrutiny by this and other groups becaus of the MW affiliation. If it had been a certain dealer in the ritzy part of LA it would have been picked apart. That being said, reputation is everything.
But I still think sold by any other seller it was a $75k car at best. Too many flaws in my opinion to draw top of market $$$. Driver or basket case it still needs a full restoration.

BTW, I wasn't paying that. Lose attention to the bidding, but it seems the winning bid (or very close to it) was placed around 24 hrs before the end of the auction. Signals to me that someone overpaid...

Does it really matter? Someone felt it was worth paying for it.

Of course someone felt it was worth it, it sold didn't it? I'm offering an opinion on this sale, just like the one's above, it just happens to be to the contrary. Sorry if it rubbed you wrong. Do I think it will continue to appreciate, absolutely!

![]() Personally I think anyone that pays > $50K for a 930 is overpaying - but that is my opinion. I bought my car when the market was down and thankful I did. I wouldn't buy a 930 in today's market. Regardless - very cool. I was just pleased to see the car was well represented. I was also pleased to see the FS Thread wasn't a thread that screamed "I'm Magnus Walker, buy my car because I'm Magnus Walker". Know what I mean? - Chris.

Good for Magnus. I saw the car when he brought it over to the Cruise In at the Petersen Museum a couple weekends ago, but didn't realize he was planning on putting it up for sale.

Good for him for branding his name I guess. I wish I could slap a cool sticker on my fender and get 20 or 30 % over market value. Have to give him credit for an honest add description. That interior was tired. Not a good market indicator IMHO
