Leaking Petrol warning system Mod-Silicone
Ever drive your 930 after having the CIS or the injectors off only to smell petrol?
Then you have a look and cant see exactly where it was leaking because it has evaporated?? This is my fix to that problem Wipe a small dab of silicone on outside of every joint where fuel is travelling, ie: injectors, fuel filter, fuel head.. If petrol is leaking from any of the spots where you have wiped the silicone you can tell instantly,, Why? Because silicone turns slimey when in contact with petrol and breaks down and it wont dry So if you get that smell just touch each silicone dab with your finger and the slimy wet one you feel will be the source of the leak Even if you don't smell petrol you can still check quickly every week or month to see if the silicone is still dry if it is slimy or wet then you have a leak that you didn't know about  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1408755929.jpg |

Seriously... I think we need a consumer warning automatically slapped onto every one of Robby's posts... "Please don't try this at home!"
|
Maybe we should start a fund to buy this poor 930 off of him before it's too late.

^^^ "Too late" happened a loooonnnggggggg time ago! :D

Use your nose to roughly find from where fuel smell is coming from.
Then put new, clean latex gloves on your hands. Run your fingers along fuel lines, and suspect places. Sniff your fingers from time to time... you will know immediately when you have touched an area where there is a slightest fuel leak, the smell is that strong. No mess on engine, and no smelly hands, since you dispose of your gloves. Always have 100 pcs boxes of new disposable medical gloves around in my garage. |
OMG!!..
Where does it cease.. |

Once the silicone on mine wears away on mine ill go that route np. Don't know why many think it unwise as it is almost impossible to find a small petrol leak by feeling around and sight because its evaporated by the time you turn engine off and walk to the engine bay, Seems many are too scared to try new things that save time and money that might actually work But if anyone has a better way please do tell rather than telling jokes it serves no purpose and doesn't offer any practical solution to a potentially hazardous problem, many fire accidents can be averted with these simple fixes, and if you cant see that then thats ok too i assume your the types that just take the car to a mechanic and pay $500 to get plugs changed cos you think the engine needs to be dropped Ignorance is bliss |
I sometimes come up with left field/outside the box stuff, I just know not to post it. ;)

last time i sniffed my fingers while trying to find something i was in grade school:D
