No boost--Fuel Pump Issue

I have an 85 with a what I believe is a fuel issue.
The car seemingly runs OK through 1st and 2nd gear. In third gear, the car goes completely flat. If I accelerate slowly, it will build revs in third gear.
Now it gets interesting: I pulled the forward fuel relay and the car immediately dies. I pulled the rear most relay and there is no change. The car runs as it did prior, but the idle went up a couple of hundred rpm after awhile.
I switched the relays and both appear fine.
Do you think the issue is in fact a dead fuel pump? Does the front most relay operate a forward fuel pump.
Lastly, where is the fuel pump that is attached to the rear relay located.
Some help would be realty appreciated.
Matt

check the rubber intake boot from the AFM to the turbo. if it is soft it will collapse under boost.

pull the connector off the back/top of the AFM. this will run the pumps with the key on and engine off.
or, you can pull the yellow relay and jump pins 30 to 87a.

verify each pump runs.

the rear pump is just in front of the right rear tire.

if you have gauges, you could connect them and check pressure of each pump.

i would not run the rear pump too long by itself. just pull each relay, you should hear each pump running.

To give an update:
I checked all of the connections. Used starting fluid to test for leaks.
Nothing there.
Replaced the rear fuel pump. Ran great while cold and then started to stumble.
Randomly, the car will run fine.
In taking to a friend, he says he had a similar occurrence and it turned out to be his CD Box.
I have a Perma Tune ignition.
Maybe I need to go back to stock,
Any thoughts?
