setting timing

Hi

I have a 1988 turbo and I'm having trouble setting the timing. I have two lines going to my distributor advance/retard diaphragm. Which one is the vacuum line?
At idle the inner most line if removed has vacuum. Which one should be remove when setting timing at 4000 rpm?

Thanks

Scott

The outer one is vacuum advance when the throttle butterfly is opened and you're accelerating and the inner one is vacuum retard at idle and up to around 1500 rpms. That's why you feel vacuum on that one at idle and during closed throttle engine deceleration if you blip the throttle.
You remove both of them when setting maximum centrifical advance at 4000 rpms.
