does 73 rsr rear bumper fit turbos?

I know I saw a pic out there with a 73 rear end, think the car had strips, remember it being white for some reason

but does it fit?

As far as I know it will fit but you have to drill out the riveted rear panel behind the reflector.

I have an '81 SC, backdated to look like a '73 RS, that has a 3.3 turbo motor and an early (short bell housing) turbo transmission. The fiberglass RS bumper fits fine and clears the turbo in the stock location.

Welcome to the sleeper club. Nice setup you have there. Do you have a pic of the rear engine mounts?

I'll see about getting a picture of the rear motor mounts for you, but I think they are bone stock SC units. That is the benefit of the early short bell housing turbo transmission, it does not push the motor further back in the chassis, but rather keeps it in the stock location for a non-turbo car. I believe only later turbo cars ('77 and later) that had the longer tranny needed the modified rear engine mounts to accommodate the motor being further back in the chassis.

now you really confused me, I have a stock 1980 930, I am looking to possibly backdate, and wondering if this bumper will fit with stock set up

There is a fellow in CA that has all my gear on a 930 backdated to '73 RSR look. It all fit very tight but my mufflers are adjustable. He went with custom tailpipes that mimicked the 911R muffler.

Just dont choose a huge turbine turbo and go with zork and it should be easier. My holset would be a nightmare.

Mine is a Borla muffler I believe and it would not clear the bumper if the motor was another inch rearward in the car. However, I think that another muffler setup would be able to clear.

Who engineered the install? Nothing of the exhaust system looks stock to me.

Other than the muffler, it is almost all stock '78 exhaust components. The thermal reactors have been replaced by short manifolds.
