Year-to-Year CIS/Igntion Component Interchangeability

Is there anything I need to watch for when using CIS and ignition components from a `86-`87 930 on a 1980?

I'm wondering in particular about the electronics; Lamda/emissions stuff (all the crap under the driver's seat of later US models) on the new one that the `80 didn't have or require. Can I completely ignore this stuff? If so, will the wiring harness require any massaging/tweaks?

Assuming a 6 pin Bosch CDI from the later 80s is the same as the earlier ones?

Distributor has two pots instead of one; pretty certain that doesn't matter but would like to confirm.

Is there anything at all different about the actual delivery of the fuel or was this the same throughout the years?

If I'm missing anything important or if my thinking is wrong (that it should be pretty simple to use the newer unit on a euro car) I'd sure like to know before assembly.

Thanks!

why do you want to swap later stuff to an earlier car?

the 80 did not have the lambda crap which to me makes it more reliable. plus i dont think you will have the wiring to put the later stuff in.

cd units are the same

Well, for one thing, a 1980 car is either Euro, ROW, or grey market US. Euro gets a whole different CIS system (MB cast iron body, bigger lines, bigger injectors). ROW generally the same, with some exceptions. Grey market depends on who did what to get it into the US.

The later US had KE jetronic, with the frequency valve. It can be left unplugged, so no need for any other wires than the air funnel contact that you already have.
