Oil Level Gauge

My oil level gauge died suddenly. It was working perfectly until one day it stopped showing anything and sits at the bottom of the scale (low level) permanently. With ignition "ON" it moves from the position "dead bottom on the peg" up a tiny amount to sit at the bottom of red and stays there all the time.

So, I suspect the signal is not coming from the sensor.

How to check if the sensor is OK? I know where it is and maybe some wire lost contact. How to check this?

If it is OK, how to test the gauge itself?

this may help.

Oil Level Gauge question

remove the wire from the sender. the needle should max out. ground the wire, needle should now go to minimum. if the needle does not move problem is wiring or gauge. most likely wiring.
