Van...your photos blew everybody away...just wow.

Paul...that's a great pic of your kids being surprised!!

Ronnie...now that is funny with the quotes. Maybe some it is true!!

Here's my potd of the photo I took today preparing to drop the engine/trans next week. Note anything unusual? Hint...it would make my job easier.

I will be dropping the engine/tranny in my 78 930 clone soon to begin that total refresh project.

do I see the lower section of the opening for the trans shaft notched?

not sure that would be easy with the engine / tranny in place, but good idea for the 'next time'.

am I correct?

Yes, you are correct about the shifter tunnel that was notched. There's a larger cover/plate on the underside which the notched section is tack welded onto. I wonder why Porsche did not incorporate that design.

Hey Paul...my plan is to change the gearing (it has short 2nd, 3rd & 4th gearing) to taller gearing (somewhere between current short gears and stock or maybe even back to stock gears) along with replacing 2nd gear syncros and anything that needs attention. As for the engine I will check/adjust the valves and address any signs of minor oil leak (triangle of death, etc) without taking apart the engine.

I forgot to mention that I will start a new thread on my engine/trans drop and transmission R&R in a week or two.

The only problem with the above photo is the extreme lack of hills and curves on the way to the shoot.

The road nearest here has a speed limit of 180, and no traffic.
