It would be cool to see the same type of photo with a bulbous 991 turbo sitting next to it.

Very cool. I like RWBs a lot.

The paint on that front bumper looks off to me though.

Going into a 911 Turbo: N.O.S. 911 G50 transmission!

Strange to think this has been sitting in this container, sealed in plastic, for 27 years.

Totally agree, Dubz - I'm much more impressed with that dude's work (even though I do not care for many of the RWB cars that I see) than I am with OEM restorations.

NICE! only way to top that would be the -50 after the name... You have to wonder how many other crazy cool parts are in crates like that one hidden in some warehouse.

Given the choice, I'd stick with the Carrera G50. I'm not a big fan of the G50/50 for a street car because stock gearing is typical late-'80s king-of-the-Autobahn top speed ratios, pretty dull on the street unless you've got a ton of torque. You have to go through and change out 2-3-4 for it to be fun again.
Starting with a Carrera box, you only have to add a Turbo 5th for a low rpm freeway cruising gear.

Sure, the G50/50 is sturder with a larger ring gear, but we've never broken the Carrera G50, even with 600ft.lb. torque and really wide tires.

And the G50/50 is nearly a full 25mm longer, so a bigger PITA to fit into the pre-89 chassis. That pretty much commits you to either cutting out the center of the torsion bar housing (lots of fab + coil-overs), or converting to a G50/50 t-bar housing. No fun.

Is that a LSD unit, and if so how can you tell that from the noted part number?

No, it is open, the part number references one without LSD.
Which is fine, because I'd replace it with a better LSD anyway, ex: Wavetrac or Guard, depending on power level and intended use.
This is getting a Wavetrac and a Turbo 5th gear, plus modified 993 side cover plate (OE look instead of billet).

The word I would use is VICIOUS.

Power delivery is warp speed in pretty much every gear. You just roll in to the throttle and away you go. Max torque at 3500 makes for an interesting experience in 2nd gear with street tires. It puts the power down but you have to be aware that you are on the edge of traction.

I couldn't be happier and Chris @ TurboKraft certainly delivered what I was looking for.

Next step is to get the car ready for 2017! I am changing a few things up on the interior and moving to a different suspension.

Chris.
