Here are a couple picts of my recent acquisition....call her Phoenix II. Need to replace certain things that a person just simply cannot continue on in this world without. Note in the second picture some 'stuff' in the background. Like..."what's that under the shroud, and what's that pile of junk in the driveway"?

What's the downside of having the thread in a place where the people that use the forum do so in order to discuss Porsche values?
That thread is full of a ton of 930-specific information. That's what I liked about it the most. A car would be posted in a rare color combo or with rare options and the following replies were chock-full of great information and opinions. It was becoming almost as useful as the ferrarichat thread.

Really cool Mark, and no doubt about the "can't live without" comment!

Patina, the thread still exists in the Marketplace forum, so what has changed with regard to what you say about liking it? Not trying to be a jackass (for once), I genuinely do not understand what you mean . . .

PS - I check that thread out every day and have been tickled that so few people that used to post in it, including the OP, are posting in it now that it is moved - makes no sense to me.

That thread is now dead in the marketplace forum.

The marketplace forum is full of 914/924/944/912 owners who are trying to predict the future market trends. I liked that the thread was "exclusive" to the 930 forum and was here every morning when I checked in.

But why? Why aren't the people that used to post in it not doing so any more? Is that some sort of protest or something? I don't get it.

I don't understand why you guys are so enthusiastic about downplaying the most exciting thing that has happened to your cars in the past 15 years.

Please, explain to me why your car doubling, tripling, or quadrupling in value over the course of a year and a half is a bad thing?

I remember this same conversation on the Early S a few years ago. It's not the values, per se. It is the douchiness of the conversation the douchey types it trends to drag out.

It's not necessarily a bad thing, but there is a forum set aside specifically for such threads/discussions. Also, a car's value is not "exciting" to everyone; I find the value rise mildly amusing, but I have never thought too much about a machine's supposed value - not important to me (other than ones I want but can't afford, that is).

One other thing to note is that thread move is not unique to Tony's thread - plenty of people start value threads in the 911 Tech forum, by mistake or for whatever reason, and they always get moved to the Marketplace forum.

I don't understand why the real 'douches' don't realize that when these types get involved it just makes the 'good guys' that much more valuable...

Instead of turning a 180 when you are faced with adversity why don't you take it as an opportunity for the good guys to prevail?

I persevered there, I'll persevere here. Sadly, many didn't, tempted by cash to sell out. Not a judgment statement. Everyone has their own motivations.

What I miss is the proliferation of good guys...it was almost universally good dudes, driven by a set of motivations that I identify with more than valuation and Q tip worship. You're right about the fact that it makes those remaining more precious.

Ok now you've done it...bikes-n-all

Now this is about as off topic as it gets but what the heck. These are for sale....

1993 888 SPO 8600 miles, just had new belts installed, tires very old, best offer over 14K, local pick-up only. No test rides as it is not insured at present.

1991 907 I.E. 10k miles, really crappy picture {it is actually a cell phone picture of a photograph}, it is time for new belts & TB's sync, tires very old. Probably pretty cheap..... 5K? local pick-up only. No test rides as it is not insured at present.

Besides, if you don't know what they are, you probably would not be interested in either one of them anyway.

Mark

I'm selling these for a friend who no longer needs them. They've been tucked away for years and are in great shape as you can see. Yes, they are factory. I've researched these and while you can buy repros, they are repros. Kind of like aluminum decklids. Nice, but not the real thing. Given the market, I'm offering these for $1000 OBO. I can send more pics and will do my best to answer any questions.

Careful there tiger. The special love you and Paul share is yours alone.

888 SPO. In Washington. For sale. I don't like you very much. Only because if I bought it, I'd end up divorced. But if I could unload my Speed Triple... One in, one out, maybe the wife won't notice.

I'll trade you a rusty 69T for your bike and $20K. How crazy is that, that this offer is equitable?

whoa there killers

talk about a threadjack

gee

zus

First - patina - howabout puttin yer name in yer sig so we don't have to call you by yer screen name, jah?

But, as I'm good w/ names I think yer name is Patrick.

So, yeah - Patrick... now yer callin me a douche? My touché douch-ay comment to Ronnie was about him NOT being a hypocrite and posting MC pics in a 930 thread, as he'd said the value thread belonged in the Marketplace forum... wasn't any sort of jab otherwise.

so, yeah

EAAAAAASSSSSSY there killer

Like I had 'that' thread moved.

As Ronnie clearly (for once) pointed out... it was a marketplace discussion and as such belongs in the marketplace forum. Someone finally took their head out of their arse and put it there. You found it valuable. Many others found it annoying. Why? Jake's reply is nail / head.

That, and Tony hisself finally admitted he put it 'here' sheerly to be annoying.

Point taken.

Yet, you call me ze douche? Errrr, OK bro... whatever werks for you... I'm verymuch OK w/ that. Rockon with yer badself dude. I hereby retract my comments of how awesome your car and recent work is. That better for ya there Chiefy?

now

MARK

schwing! Jahmon, back in the saddle again... exxxxxxxxxxxcellent. Enjoy.

OtherMark... agreed w/ Kenik... dayum... $5k... must... summon... remaining shreds... of willpower. Nice bikes. Fergot you had those, sawn them before yearseses ago here. Tre-cool.

Now, back to 930potd - eh? Schpeakin of er um uhhh... "Loose Cannons"?:

Now, regarding me & Ronnie's special (er) 'love'... well... he & I get more laughs out of that bs than anyone will ever comprehend... which is just perfect. Either you get it our you don't.

NOW... AGAIN... back to... 930potd???:

We lost our secret OT thread when the the value thread went to marketplace. I always thought the joke was on them, actually. I guess this thread will have to do.
