930 center-mount front cooler, what fittings?

Fellows,

I am gathering parts for installing a Setrab 172 (-12an) cooler. I need to order hose and fittings to hook it up to the existing cooler and oil lines. The pictures shows how it is today.
The question is what fittings do I need? I believe the hard lines are 30mm, but are the cooler fittings also 30mm?

If somebody has done the same and has a shopping list, or other advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

My car had the factory lines then thy ran AN fittings through an adapter to them. I have the adapters if you want them as I am building my oil system from scratch because I moved my oil tank to the front.

And by "have" them, I mean, just pay shipping. =)

I'm about to do the same project so would love a fittings shopping list. My cooler is fitted with -12AN fittings so I just need to work out what I need to go from the hardlines.

Paul, my apologies. I did not see your response. Thanks for the support.

I don't remember, does your 172 have -12an fittings as well?

Regarding valence, still undecided. As stock as possible.

Happy Thanksgiving Jesper and everyone.

I have "Factory Level" crimped Cohline Oil Hose and "Direct Connect" Fittings to connect your original M30 Hardlines to your Setrab AN-12 Oil Cooler.

No adapters, no fuss. Custom made to your specs. Photos to follow.

Jesper- Here is what I can make up for you.........

.........in any length required. The hoses shown in Paul K's post #4 above are from me. They fit the Setrab 172 Cooler "Directly", and at a very competitive price.

I trust the Fuel Hoses sent to you previously have worked out well.

yes, I was going to mention Len's bits when you replied Jesper

Len came down a NUMBER of times, got on the floor and worked all the fitment out with me (Len's not a young chap, but crawled right on down there and toiled away - just awesome), and sent me multiple versions of each hose multiple times until we got it RIGHT.

Quality / appearance is OE spec which was important to me, no blue / red / sliver bling bling bs for me, thanks.

And - for what probably ended up being 8-10' of lines, fittings, bends, etc., the whole shebang probably worked out to either exactly what it'd have cost for me to DIY source out all the bits on my own through assorted vendors - or a little less even.

No brainer, IMO. Len should be able to send you exactly my setup, as I believe he documented it well in situ for exactly this reason. No fuss, no muss.

Thanks again, Len - good to hear from you...

OK, here's the thing, you don't need AN fillings to do this.

Have a look at this thread:
Budget Oil Cooling - Myth Dispelled

I installed a RX7 cooler in the front of my 77 track car - not because I wanted to, because I had to with the hot 2.7 in that car. I cut the bottom loop off of my trombone cooler (may as well keep some of the cooling duty of the trombone) and spliced in some hydraulic lines going up to the center mount RX7 cooler using hydraulic fittings. The system got my cooling issue under control (see the pics showing measuring temps). It cost around $250 if my memory serves correct.

I guarantee this sees much greater duty than your street 930 ever will, the system has been robust for many years and miles. You can go with AN fittings but in my experience on the 911 and 914 chump cars, these can come loose and be a real pain in the arse at great cost.

I think a 12 pack of bud light will cover the cost of shipping if you ever make it to the North East. I lost power and cable for a few days with that last storm so you'll have them by weeks end.

So I got the fittings in the mail from IMR-Merlin, and ask for PayPal to pay for shipping. He refuses and simply replies, "Merry Christmas."

Thank you! Merlin

That's the pelican spirit.

I will put them to good use.
