What is my Smog Pump and system worth?

Pulled the Smog Pump with brackets, filter, hoses, valves, spider and nozzles from my 1981 SC and thought I would ask around before I decided whether or not I wanted to sell them. What are they worth? They are in pretty nice shape.

The only thing still usable on mine was the air pump, air filter, it's cast iron mounting bracket parts, the diverter valve, and the air injection nozzles.

The spider was squished from what looked like someone putting a floor jack under it and then lifting the back of the car and some of the air injection nozzles were kinda melted at the end.
The spider manifold was junk so I cut it into smaller pieces when removing it.

I sold the heavy Nippondenso air pump, brackets and filter, the diverter valve, check valve, and what was left of the injection nozzles for 50 or 75 bucks on the classifieds to someone that wanted it 6 or 7 years ago

I'll throw in a distorted right rubber bumper guard ( free) from overheated exhaust system due to emissions junk. Unless absolutely no other option, putting back to stock is for those who know little of the consequences of the PC that ran amuck and rampant back then. Stock emissions and restrictive exhaust systems were the cause of many complaints about the 930's short comings. If Porsche could have had their way it would not be there. Power, gas mileage and longevity suffer when you have to build for PC bureaucrats or want to relive those past requirements for originality's sake.

Awesome synopsis, Tony. Priceless

Damn Shannon, apparently 2008 called and wants its prices back that I got for my junk. Well done. I suspected those bits would have hot demand nowadays...

The market for this stuff are people who are putting cars back to 'original' or 'restored'. I also think there are certain years which are not smog exempt in CA so they have to at least see the cars equipped with the stuff. Go look up what a new pump costs and 600 bucks is a smoking deal.

I agree with Tony but no one is putting this stuff on thinking its going to make their car run better.

Understand how you feel.

None wanted my good used German steel brake rotors- unappreciative bunch.

It's a shame to cage the beast again. Better yet get it to breathe better.

About half of all 911s in the US are in California. About a third of those are in the LA area. All of those 1975 and newer need their smog gear. Also, notable recent sales made to someone in the LA area from outside of there need smog gear, so there is a pretty big bunch of cars that need it. An older SC is fun to drive with it or without it. Either way they are no rocket ship, just fun. I think 400-600 is the right range for everything, pump, injectors, manifold, diverter valves.

Still? I thought I had done a better job of thinning the herd over the past decades.

Your smog equipment looks to be in pretty good shape Steve and may have value for the right buyer. The vast majority of all smog equipment is pure junk. All rusted up, dented, plugged, and non-functional. All 911/930 in CA must have this stuff already to be compliant now so they are not looking. Getting a car into CA can be a nightmare from what I understand and those folks would need the exact smog equipment that came off their engine type. Every engine type had its own smog requirements so this could be a very difficult thing. I don't know how strict they are on these rules but this is my observation. CA folks should chime in for true-life examples.

You are actually missing some stuff.

I just put my car back to stock at rebuild and it was a monumental task gathering up the bits. The nozzles and the spider are unobtanium from Porsche. Spiders can be repaired but without the nozzles your dead in the water.

What am I missing? The nozzles and spider are there. I am sure a prospective buyer would want to know what is missing.

From what I remember of all that stuff the only thing I don't see in the picture is the air pump belt tension adjustment bracket that bolts on to one of the larger mounting brackets.
It's only two or three inches long so it's probably in the plastic bag.
It looks like everything is in good condition and as long as the Nippondenso air pump works it has value to someone that needs it to register their car.
