Turbo R w/19K miles

1997 Turbo R by RUF @ Mecum Kissimmee. Estimate $300 to $350K. Also 5 930 turbos. Looks like Dana is getting in on the 930 parade. Lots F # 248 a 83 F #249 a 86 and @ F 250 a 88 then S#199 a 78 and finally T288 a 88 930 cab. These sale results most likely will be considered in Hagerty's April values guide. Early results will give a glimpse of market knowledge others may not have.

I think I saw that there's a turbo being auctioned at Mecum Kissimmee that has a 962 engine in it (supposedly built by Neil Harvey). I realize that this car is modified, but 962 engine must be sweeeet!

Yes that is lot#T 288,. That 962 motor in a cabriolet should be plenty scary. Dana has all kinds of contacts for great cars. No current affiliation.

It will be very interesting to see how the bidding goes on the 86 Ruf conversion car lot F249. The estimate is 100-125k.

Could modified 930's potentially get some traction that they deserve here?

86 Ruf conversion 930 Mecum Kissimmee lot F249

That vehicle sold at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach in 2013 for $31,900. States vehicle was declared a total loss on the Carfax report. Thats almost on par with a salvage title to me. I wonder if they will declare that at the auction.

Could be as Mecum has plenty of muscle car clients, and some know of the turbo performance potential and the price escalation in recent times. As you know once you drive a 930 both ways, see which you prefer to drive.:) The 88 cab with the 962 motor could be for me.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/chix.gif

Maybe I'm missing something here but car doesn't appear to have a 962 engine.

It looks like a well modified 930 twin plug engine.
Since it's twin plugged they may be reaching a bit with the description?

I thought a 962 would have a flat fan and look more like this.

Oh my. If I had a choice, I might take that over Jennifer Lopez.

Both would run hot, act finicky at times, and be one heck of a ride!

Why would auction results drive prices? Everybody I know looks at these auctions as more entertainment than reality. Where people with more money than sense try to show everyone else whose...wallet...is bigger.
