First oil change- '77 930

So I'm going to be changing the oil this weekened on my 930- did they come from the factory with no drain plug on the sump plate?

I see that some drain the turbo tank and some don't- I think I'm not going to drain it. Any other tips before I embark on this?

You might want to shorten up the next change interval…

There should be a drain bolt on the case and another on the oil tank (behind the right rear wheel). The case will drain 3 or 4 quarts. The oil tank will drain 8-9 quarts; just be sure your container is large enough. I think it's the easiest car on which I've ever changed oil. You hardly have to crawl under the car and the oil filter is easily accessible (just stuff a shop rag or some paper towels under the oil filter to catch the inevitable small spill that comes from its horizontal orientation).

AND don't put back in any more oil than you took out until you warm up the car and confirm the oil level... easy to over fill and make a mess...

On the case I just have the sump plate no drain plug. I was wondering if that was factory. On my '75 911s it has a drain plug on the sump. Was just curious.

Here's the info out of my '77 911s/ turbo carrera owner's manual. No drain plug on the sump as photoed? As noted, drain "super charger" turbo reservoir as well. Any pics of your car? good luck.

Some older sump plates had no drain plug. You'll have to remove the sump plate and it will be messy.
But don't change the oil without removing the oil from the engine. There is a lot of oil in there.

Went smoothly- should have said this is not the first oil change- just the first not performed at a shop.
