my first fp test

Hi guy's,

Just performed my first fuel pressure test , I think it's not looking good as well :(

the warm cp does not pass the 1 bar, cold cp 0.25 at 10 deg C and system pressure 6 bar...
wur bi metal test 24 ohm ...
Did my wur went bad or can there be other problems here?

I have a spare wur from a 964 3.3 turbo, can I swap that one for testing?

And yes the car still runs (rich black!)
I think it has some hidden horses under the bonnet...

I was going to ask that Q.
Well the fuel ain't getting from the fuel head to the WUR at a guess. There is a screen on the intake side of WUR - best you have a look - pull the WUR then unscrew the inlet fitting.

Thanks, good input!
What do you think by seeing this picture?

Doesn't look too good. I guess the other thing to check is that the line flows nice to that point - you could run the pumps and put a small collector jar under the feed line to the WUR and make sure it is peeing out good and strong. just in case a piece of crap is lodged in the line. Then I would clean the screen - not sure how, but hopefully you can get it out OK. probably a press fit.
Then reassemble and try again. The other route would be to pull the WUR diaphragm apart and check no crap. But another thought would be to leave that well alone if you don't have to. But for my money - the screen is blocked.

I'll try that out tomorrow! I'll keep you up to date...
Thanks again!

More suggestions are mire then welcome :-)

Cleaned it out easy, checked the fuel intake line that comes from the FD to the WUR inlet and all seems fine.
When I close the shut valve on the CIS tester pressure touches 6 bar and when I re-open the valve the pressure stay's at 6 bar ??? It's going down very slow.
I changed the WUR by the bigger 964 3.3 with the same results but slightly higher pressure .. CCP 0,9 bar
WCP 2.1 bar
SP 6 bar

I'm missing a big air-cooled event in my own town tomorrow :(

Here is another video catching the fuel flow from FD to WUR intake
http://youtu.be/a298KbLdfPw

There is dirt in the catch can but that was in there before.

Had no other choice as to adjust the WUR...
so I drilled a hole and adjusted the wur to 3.7 bar wcp
The cold control pressure 1.1 bar at 10 deg C
idle afr set to 13.5
I still have to get on the road for a test drive.
A lot of things happened over the years with that car so the problem did not came over night.

klefroid 03-14-2015 07:41 AM

Just a little question, Does the air filter have any effect if it's on or off the car for starting?
I had warm starting issue's so I want to test if this problems still exist before putting it all together...
Thanks

Doesn't matter w the air filter.

RarlyL8 03-14-2015 10:07 AM

Air filter housing should have no effect on starting.
The gunk in your WUR indicates at some point this engine has sat unstarted for long periods of time. If so the fuel distributor will have the same problem.
The setting on the WUR should never have to be changed, if they do there is a bigger problem being compensated. The WUR may simply be worn out or the fuel distributor malfunctioning. I would flush the system and change your filter as a start and go from there.

Alan L 03-14-2015 10:45 AM

Sounds like you may have to open the WUR - there may be crap on the metal disc too. You adjustment may have just compensated for a restriction further in the WUR - beyond the screen. May pay to check then the metering pressure from WUR is right - uncharted territiory - but I would try cracking the fitting on back of fuel head to WUR and see if decent amount of fuel comes thru. If not, you need to track backwards to find restriction - may be in the line, or the disc.

Here is a good WUR thread.

This is something for next winter.
For now she runs fine, starts good cold and warm and not hunting idle anymore.
When adjusting the allen screw it only needed a tiny bit to jump just on the right place.
I will need to send FD, WUR and 009 injectors (I'm sure they are crap) for checkup and/or rebuild or new.
I only drive it about 250 miles or so during the summer.
So after summertime I'll send them your way Brian.
Btw, the filter (last year) and gas tank (yesterday) are new.

Thanks guy's for helping me out :-)
