Are Stock '86 930 Shifters all the Same?
The shifter in my '86 appears to be a short shifter. Kind of nice because the throws are quick but stiff when cold and easy to beat the syncros if you're not careful. Is this the stock setup for '86 or something that was added along the way?

Do you have Sport seats?
Something like a 13% reduction on Sport seat equipped cars to prevent shifter to bolster interference due to the extended bolsters on said seats. Otherwise - yes, all the same straight thru the model range I believe. Unless, of course, someone's installed something like a Weltmeister. If it were a Wevo, it'd be a sprung unit and you'd definitely notice that (plus the shifter's more an "I beam" - unless it were a classic). |

It does indeed have sport seats. I'm leaning toward it being a Weltmeister or equivalent. The throws just seem too short to be a stock unit. Any visual clues that would identify it as such?

There was an factory option for a 10% short shifter. Check your option codes....

'86 seems shorter....but not by much. And I don't have a factory short shifter either car.
