tach input to LM2

I wanted to move the tach input for my LM2 from my coil to my tach. From my research it should be the violet/black wire (or purple/black). I see red/black, red/white, brown and all of the wires to the lights, even a black/gray which is not plugged into anything? Here is a pic, can you help me out? Anyone know what the black/gray is for?:(

Tach not working

Tach was working before I started on this. I think I disturbed some loose wiring from a PO. I have 13v at the supply and 7v at the center spade. I overlayed a wire from the cdi box to the tach input and it worked. In the morning I will try again to find where I pulled a wire loose behind the dash. I may have to permently overlay a new wire.

You should/must have a bk/vi wire going to terminal TD (marked) on your tach - comes from the CDI box. Looks like it is loose at bottom of pic?

Looks as if a spade broke off (?), connecting the black and violet wire (you call black and grey). Look inside the connector and see if the broken spade is still in there.

Don't think so, looks like a blank. No idea what the black/gray wire is so I checked its continuity to the cdi box and it is not my missing black/violet wire. Found out the r/w wire was a splice from the harness maybe to the real b/v. It pulled loose in my hand while I was messing with it. Need to open the harness, find the connector and repair the wire. Should be fun working thru the tach and speedo holes.

Update: Found the other end of the wire, soldered together which got the tach working again. Wired the LM2 to that wire, all works good.
