daaaaaamn, Tim - nice sighting!

1 of 2... incredulous

Surprised the paint is so hazed on such a treasure... and a swift crotchkick for the vanity plate >facepalm<

Figures, I had the article from period European Car Magazine from that car (double feature with a yellow CTR) on my garage wall - up until about 2wks ago when I finally pulled it down and canned it, it was getting ripped up.

I coulda filled in the pic blanks that Tim dickteased us with 8-)...

Crazycool car - thanks fer sharing...

Interesting timing.
While I was out for a ride yesterday, I saw a silver CTR3.

While I think this car is very impressive, I am not a fan of the bodywork. It makes it look a bit stubby IMHO.

There were a total of 16 RUF CTR2 Sports built, this particular car belonged to Steve Beddor's father up until a few years ago. Steve and his family had a total of 4 at one point in the US if my memory serves me right. The black one, a silver one and 2 yellow ones. Steve's was the hill-climb monster that repeatedly set records at the Virginia city hill-climb.

I believe the Black car at one point was the only "tiptronic" CTR2 Sport they built. Not the right name for it but I can't remember RUF's terminology.

550hp is very conservative, I have a 500hp Lingenfelter car and I got a chance to ride in Steve's car, makes my car feel like a GEO, probably more close to 800hp!!!

Good point - without the RUF badges, some folks would be posting comments like "abomination" and "need to bleach my eyes".

Hah, I worked on that car in '06 in part to get it to pass OBD-II emissions testing.

It had Ruf's EKS -- Elektronische Kupplung System, or Electronic Clutch System.

The owner at the time said it was rated at 580hp, but I'd say that was conservative. It was damn quick and fast.

Paint was a little beat back then. Trim and details beneath that bodywork would make the type-A members of this board cringe.

Agree about the bodyork, not entirely to my liking especially in the extra-wide "Sport" version, but kuddos 110% to Alois Ruf for having the guts to be different and do his own thing. No one else was building anything like it at the time, or even now. Plus it was developed with real wind tunnel testing, so it wasn't like some "tuners" more-wings-and-ducts-just-because-no-reason bodywork.

You wouldn't want to look behind my front bumper then... My original plan was to use it for a plug and knock out a few in FG, so it's not that pretty....
