245/50/R16 a good substitution?

I was speaking with a very well known Fuchs restorer today. We were discussing the lack of 245/45/R16. He said that in his opinion a 245/50 actually filled out the rear wheel well of a 930 better and this size is available.

Any thoughts on this?

I have not heard of anyone running this size, but it seems to make sense. BFGoodrich Sport Comp-2 (ultra high performance summer) were strongly recommended and are only about $400/set.

Bridgestone RE-11 is available in 245/45-16 and is a superior tire.
