Questions about '85 ROW 930

Hi all, I chimed in on Jimtweet's thread about his AMAG 930. I bought my car pretty recently and was hoping someone could help me with details on its history. The car was obviously originally imported to Switzerland and at some point in its life received the full Miami Vice treatment. I'm not a fan of the side strakes, slope conversion, and stereo equipment the PO installed. All of this will hopefully be removed as time/money allows. Right now I'm focused on fixing the mechanical issues, so far which seem to luckily be minor.

Any idea of who's slope kit this was? I haven't seen anything quite like it. 944 headlights I believe, including the covers, with a single motor actuating them.

I've never seen a center console like this one either...

Thanks for any input on where this thing came from! SmileWavy

Methinks there was a Testarossa hiding in the woodpile...........

Never seen this before. Looks very aftermarket to me. Sure not Strosek or Gemballa.

Back in the mid 90s a friend had a slantnose with the duct in the boxed rockers. I think it was a Firme or Firm kit. Your car looks very well done and I would keep it like that. Perhaps remove the strakes and install factory wood slats, and get different rims and leave it be,

I agree that it would look much better without the Testarossa strakes, and I hope to trade the 18" RH's for some less blingy 17's.

Firm/Firme....not finding anything on that outfit via Google. Thanks for the info though.

OK, I may be onto something here...in looking at various slope conversion pics on the internet, I noticed that the Rinspeed conversions use 944 headlight flaps. And then I happened upon this pic:

Looks like my car's twin. I find this same photo, referring to a 'Rinspeed R79' on various websites, but with no other info. Same roof spoiler (basket handle), same side strakes extending on to the doors, same fenders. I also found pictures of Rinspeed brochures available on European Ebay, showing a picture of the same console that my car has.

Anyone familiar with Rinspeed? I ordered one of those brochures, and am planning on trying to contact the company...they appear to still be in business.

Yes, swiss company which is acting as think tank for the automotive industry. Wellknown for his concept cars since decades. Diving, flying, each of them is crazy and sometimes showing real good ideas. Check his Webpage:
