The o/boost sw is simply a small spring holding a contact closed that allows the terminal on the lug to earth thru the body of the sw into the IC body. Crude. I had to add a new ground wire for it to work when I added a 964 IC - because it has rubber mounts/bushes and my fuel pumps would not work.
I have had one bad sw - intermittent contact when I wiggled the terminal. I think the terminal comes loose in the plastic body. You can check/verify that before installing. Make sure you have ohms between the terminal and the body of the sw. Then if you install the sw you can make sure you have ohms between the terminal and some earth somewhere else in the engine. This is what you need to check when it shuts down. Yes, it is a pain to diagnose. Mine was intermittent shut downs. Finally I had my meter with me and caught the bastard out.
I would NOT delete it. What cost to rebuild the motor?
I have an EBC and it forgets the settings each time I cut the power. The number of times my o/boost sw has cut in, I loose count. Then there are the issues Ronnie outlines for the WG. I can't believe all the switches are that bad or we would all be complaining. Instead I thank mine.
regards
Alan
