Spongy Tensioner Cure
Hi Guys
I happened to come across a rebuild video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWWYAmIgZ5I The old school mechanic used a oil can hooked up to the tensioner to prime and, purge all the air out of the tensioner. I decided to give this a try on my old spongy tensioners. I purchased a banjo bolt through my local Porsche dealer. Some 1/4"clear tubing from Princess Auto. I had an old tensioner oil line, that I cut the eyelet from. You will also need 2 clamps. I pieced it all together, and hooked it up to the tensioner. Prior to me purging the tensioner I was able to compress the tensioner almost 1/4 to 3/8" by hand. After purging the tensioners they are rock hard. I had to use a vise to compress the tensioner, so that I could put the pin back. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hopefully this will help someone else that is having this very same problem." Anybody need 2 fully primed tensioners?
