Cross Post on a "Looking For" Item

With Ronnie lurking I'm loath to use any term that includes both the words "Hot" and "Socket", but since what I'm trying to find is a Hot Air Socket I'm left with little choice.

I somehow lost this part of the tin/engine shrouding when I had my engine out a while back. My headers didn't offer heat so I wasn't too concerned, just cut some sheet metal to cover the hole and off I went. Well now I have headers with heat but can't use it until I can find one of these.

Porsche Part, No: 930.66/68

Description: Hot Air Socket

It's item 5 on the attached image.

Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks.

Thanks. For the time being I'm trying to avoid paying $180 dollars for a small piece of formed tin.

I think that's 180.00 for plastic:D

Yep, they're plastic and have a tendency to crack apart from the heat. I think I have an extra one ( I may have tossed it ) in pieces that could be glassed back together. LMK if you want it and, if I have it, I'll send it over, no charge.

$180ish and the new ones are thinner plastic than the ones made in the '80s.
Thanks again, Porsche...

I bought a one pc. metal unit from Sierra Madre for $90.

I dropped a bolt or some such on mine a while back and the fukker cracked a big chip of that brittleass plastic right off... which... of course... promptly fell INTO said ducting - FTMFL!

True to the spirit of our wondrous group here - someone mailed me a spare, *gratis*!

Hopefully the "other" Paul K finds his busted spare and bits and sends it to you for triage.

Good luck, Mr. Hot Socket Seeker!
