tach wiring

I have a 78 - 930 that was a roller project. About finished with it, however the previous owner has the wiring jacked throughout the car. Yes, I have looked at previous posts and I have the wiring diagrams. However the wiring diagrams do not show everything.

Example: in my car I have already found wiring colors completely different from the factory wiring diagrams. These different colors were factory completed - very easy to tell that these were original. Someone went to lunch for a while that day - apparently.

Bottom line:
Can someone post a pic of the back of a 78 or 79 wired tach?

I am down to about 2 wires and the last two do not make any sense at all. this would help alot

thanks,
Mark

here are a couple of photos from the back of the tach on my 1978 930. Hope that helps a little

My car is stripped for bodywork now but wiring behind the dash is still here if you need any colors to compare with.

Simon

thanks man - that really helps alot

the factory wiring diagrams spec - blue wire with white stripes for the turn signal indicator lamps. however mine work with the white wire with blue stripe.

Now I have any extra Blue/white stripe wire that I have no idea where it goes. I do not have the brown with white stripe wire at all. I wonder where that brown/white wire goes? So I am thinking that is where my blue/white on is connected.

This project has been 2 steps forward and 5 back at each step. Re-inventing the wheel alot on this build. But closer with each step

thanks again

thanks simon - really appreciate it

BTW - some of your wiring has horizontal stripes - mine are vertical (along the length of the wire)

Interesting - I wonder how much variability there was during that time from car to car or month to month.

My car was # 133 from 1978 model year (build date 11/77) so not too long after the changeover from the 3.0L 77 cars. There are a few other things on the car that look like they were carry-overs to use up parts in the interim period.
