right side cam line not fitting
 

i ordered the right side cam line but it does not fit correctly.
the left side angles down and the right side angles up making the rubber part look like a lightning bolt.
i was told this and the tensioner line are superseded but i dont know why.
did i just line that was not bent correctly.

I had a tough time with one recently, too. The metal parts were silver, instead of the gold finish that I am used to seeing. Left side came through in the gold, and seems to be okay.

Buy them from a Porsche dealer.
That way you get factory original parts that have been quality control inspected more than once instead of worldpac or whatever after market parts possibly made in China.

tried bending it as suggested by someone but not happy with the results,. only bent it a little.

ordered another one hoping this one was just bad.

wanting to drive it out of town next week and would prefer to have it fixed even though not leaking bad.
OEM from pelican wont be here before i go.

I'm on the road and can't type too much right now, but this line has been updated by Porsche, ordered from Porsche they will look the same too. If you search the forums you will find more info on this. This issue has been brought up at least once a year to me for the past decade. I am pretty sure our catalog has a lengthy description of this, unless someone accidentally removed it. Installing the new line without updating anything else will cause issues like you've seen here. I'll write more later on tonight when I return.

I just recently did this job and had the same issue. I just ended up toying with all the connections till I got it close, but it still has a slight bend like yours.

I just checked, and it would appear that yes, someone removed this description, or it got lost in some type of technology upgrade.

Here's what I instructed my crew to add to the catalog back in 2011:

Bottom line - if you have the old setup without the brackets, then you need to update them to the ones with the small brackets. Otherwise, you might have vibration issues. There is a technical bulletin from Porsche on this somewhere...

my car is an 86 930. It already had the brackets for the tensioner lines,
the line to the tensioner fits fine.
I ordered a second line and it was worse than the one I pictured above,.

I could not get the line to thread onto the sending unit because (looking at the pic above) the crimp on the left was angled so far down it was hitting on the chain housing right behind the cover where that ridge sticks up.
in the pic above the left crimp is up hi and more towards the cylinder,
if you look at my pic you can see how that line is even pressed up against the back of the chain housing and yes, that made that one hard to put on,

I did not like the first one because I thought it was putting too much stress on the crimps and rubber hose and did not want it to start leaking prematurely. the pic above is the same, the rubber line is bent but not as bad as mine was,

wayne if you would like maybe I can put attention to you and let you look at the one I have now and maybe try to put it on.
I only let you know about this because I had 2 that did not fit correctly and thought you might want to contact the manufacturer or find another part.

just as a note, I have had the rear of the car apart twice because of this and I had to take a 1000 mile round trip in the car with this line leaking.

My car is also an 86 and it has the updated small brackets.

This issue with this line (which Wayne correctly states, is the same hose you will get from Porsche directly) is that the feed on the cam tower side is much shorter than the original hose (Waynes pic clearly shows this).

What is comes down to for me is if this thing leaks I will be pretty upset.

no. my problem was all on the left side of the line and trying to connect it to the engine case side. with the right side not even connected, I could not get the left side to thread on because the bend in the line was not correct.
