Another 930 teardown
 
'79, 80k miles. All stock except the reactors were removed when new. I'll keep it stock except maybe a set of used headers and a K27.

me too..... and a lift.... actually I have decided to get a rotisserie when ready for paint and then to make it easier to put it all back together....

PS. I really want a set of Brian's headers, but depending on the funds may need to use these for a bit. but they will go for sale at some point. I have seen other, similar sets of used headers for sale, so good luck on that.

Anything will be better than the reactor replacement manifolds I've got now, they look like something off a diesel tractor. But they are well made, I'll give them that. I'm saving the serious money for the hot rod build on an '87 slant conversion.

have seen what looks like a nice one, very adjustable, for $800. but not ready for it yet..

You are allowed some toys in retirement. I often think of the 30+ yrs crawling under cars etc - no more. :-) My shed - with the upper floor- is near as big as our house. As it should be.

Ha,Ha, I agree. That's why I bought the Maxjax lift. Yes, 1500 ft2 house with 4000 ft2 shop is what I would prefer.

Yes, Minerva Blue. No sunroof. 95% original paint, quite a few stone chips on the front though. Original owner was from NJ, so it probably spent a lot of time on the NJ turnpike in bumper to bumper at 75.

I've never liked hanging any engine off just one end. I'm sure this is opening up a can of worms and correct me if I'm wrong but that factory style ring with the lip does nothing to counteract the weight of the engine trying to pull the top stud out of the case. The lip eliminates the vertical shear force in the studs by supporting the case but I don't see how it helps with the bending force of the engine weight pulling on the top stud. Obviously the one stud is sufficient since the yoke has been used forever, this is just the way I like to do it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1454507180.jpg

The propane torch and pipe wrench took care of the head studs. The pipe wrench bites best on the threads but I had to move it down to the shank for a few tough ones. I put some torque on the stud and then just held the torch on it until it let go and then kept the torch on until it was almost all the way out. Don't rush it, let the heat do the work. The four studs closest to the flywheel were the toughest for some reason.
