77 turbo horns

Returning a 77 bastardized turbo back to original. Where do the horns go? They are currently mounted behind the front bumper pretty much right in the center, (the former 964 bumper) looks wrong. I know on my 85 930, they are mounted in front of the fender oil cooler. I have s sneaky feeling, 77's are mounted there as well?

'75-'79 Turbos had Mixo red trumpets. I believe they were also fitted to 911s earlier ~1973 (changed from the banjo-style).

Thanks for following the clarification, I guess I have to go to the classifieds now and post a mixo horns WTB. My car has black French horns, one is longer than a he other
Where is the exact mounting location of the horns?

As a clarification my USA '76 930 has a red and a black, different lengths... IIRC the red is longer... They were mounted to a small bracket that bolted to a larger u shaped bracket under the fender, immediately behind the headlight bucket. The car is in storage now, and they are out anyway, otherwise I'd send a pic...

Number 24 (wing strut). Is the u shaped bracket in the pass side. I believe bolt 25 is what holds the smaller horn bracket.

The Mixo trumpets were made in France. There is a short (high) and long (lo) horn. Porsche used the same Mixo trumpets in the 1980s but they had black vs. red plastic. Usually the longer horn takes the most abuse and is often replaced with the later black horn since they are more readily available.

That's a great shot that shows the location. It's such a bummer that these horns are hidden from view.

For 930's, the transition to the black horns occurred for the RoW models in the early 80s but I'm not sure what year. For the U.S. market, when 930s reappeared in 1986 they had Mixo black trumpets. The oil cooler was upgraded for RoW 930s for the 1980 model year (not the late-79 U.S. models) and this required a slight relocation of the horns. For '75-79 930s, they were in the same location as your 80SC since the SC did not have a radiator oil cooler. My late-79 930, #1164 does not have the radiator oil cooler that the '80 RoW 930s had, but the factory installed a mount for it under the bumper...another unusual feature of the late-79 U.S. Turbos.

I believe my 81 930 has the black horns. Also has the 28 row brass oil cooler.I have the pas. fender off so I'll snap a pic later.
