EKo Transport out of Jacksonville FL
Do not use this carrier. My son has a 944 turbo that is having a crazy motor build by broadfoot racing. The car was picked up on the 20th of Dec 15. It was delivered on Dec 24th 15. One of the mechanics see some damage on the front intercooler that should not be there. We contact the shipping company and they no nothing of it.
So now I am going to battle with them over the damage. I get a call from Gieco insurance company about the car being in an accident on Dec 21 15. I say that is impossible the car was on a truck being transported to Florida. They send me a copy of the accident report and it was my car. The driver decided to take the car for a ride. In the accident report it shows the driver was doing excessive speed and went thru a stop sign and rear ended another car. He never told me and delivered the car. I call them up to tell them the car was in an accident while in there possession and they say I dont know what you are talking about and hang up on me. Yet the driver of the car during the accident was the truck driver who owns the company. Did you ever hear of such bull ****.......... John

John,
You definitely need to get some expert opinion -- and not just a Joe-Blow atty who will spend your money learning the specific laws that would apply to you. I am pretty sure your insurance company will cover your damages, since it happened while you owned it -- and because you have that damage report. My company (USAA) paid us for transport damage that was incurred once, and then went after the trucker's insurance (which all truckers are required to maintain). I do not know the outcome, but assume they were victorious. Worst case, that trucking company will fire the driver, and he will have great great difficulty getting another car-hauling job. It's a very cut-throat and competitive job out there for drivers, and the companies hold a knife to their throats all the time, using any excuse to dock their pay. Good luck, and HANG IN THERE. Perseverance is needed. |
