oil dummy light

Car has been down for a couple of months doing some changes. Rewired my fuse box and now when I start the car the oil dummy light stays on. Any ideas? did I forget to wire something up. I also had an issue with a broken oil feed line. I did loose a lot of oil but I was only at 1500 rpms when I lost the oil. The cars starts right up and idles fine and I have good oil pressure. I replaced the turbo oil feed line with Turbokraft braided line. I would appriciate any help.
I thought I read something about a reset button for the oil lite..
Thanks John

figured it out. Thank God I did not drive the car. The new oil feed line came with a ball and a spring to stop smoke on start up. I never had an issue with smoke on start up but said what the hell lets put the spring and ball in. Long story short the ball was stuck in the bottom and would not let oil flow thru. Thank God I did not drive it. I probably would have wasted a new GT35 turbo.....

Great that you figure it out, was going to post "are you sure you got oil"...

Did you put the Spring and Ball thing the wrong way/side? Nothing to be "ashamed of" as it might save someone else a lot of money.

Which product is it?

I was told to put the ball in first, spring second. The ball was stuck in the bottom. It had to be in the right way. The flow of the oil should push the ball up and let the oil flow. When the car shuts off the spring pushes the ball down and the oil flow stops. That is the way I am assuming it works.
The ball was stuck pretty good. had a hard time pushing it out with my finger.

John,

Like I mentioned before, thank God you got it figured out in time.

I suggest that you contact the supplier and tell them what happened, might be some design reason why the ball was stuck in the close position.

Thanks for sharing.

JB, close call! You should apologize to your oil light for calling it a dummy!

You have a serious issue then, with the ball. You are correct - it is supposed to seat in the bottom of the oil fitting and the spring adds a little bit more push to seat it against siphoning oil into the turbo. You may do better by going up one size diameter with the ball. It sounds too small for the fitting.
But I am guessing you did not start it up like that? The oil pressure should push it out of the seat. Next time - maybe just crank it over and see if the light goes out. If there is any issue with it sticking against the oil pressure then it needs serious attention. But 60 psi oil pressure may be more than enough to unseat it.

I never had a ball in there and never had any smoke on start up, so I decided to take the ball and spring out. No more light on and oil pressure is fine. By the way i dont know what my guys did when the ball was installed but I had to tap it with a screw driver to get the ball out, oil pressure would not of moved this.

If you decided you did need one further down the track, they come in close fractional sizes - metric and imperial. I think the usual size for that job is 9mm. You could go to 10mm -there may even be a 9.5mm. And there will be imperial at 9mm+. Would be a case of 'suck it and see'.
Well detected. Good job.
Alan
