Turbo sending unit
I have a 1985 911 Carrera which has an aftermarket Protomotive stage 1 non-intercooler turbo kit installed. The former car owner installed a tachometer from what I believe was a 930. This tachometer has a 1 bar boost gauge on it. This turbo kit runs .5 bar boost. My problem is I do not have the proper sending unt according to North Hollywood speedometer. the gauge does not move at all under operation. My sending unit is a 993 0-1.5. and I need one calibrated for just the one bar gauge.
Does anyone know what the part number would be for a sending unit calibrated for a 1 bar gauge? Specs are not listed on parts listings. Even the dealership needs a part number and does not know what the senders are calibrated for. Thank you. |
I hate to bother with a request. If anyone with a 80's 930 turbo and a 1 bar boost gauge could please give me a part number off their boost sending unit, it would be greatly appreciated.

Even with the correct sending unit you might not want to put too much faith in the factory boost gauge. Since it seems your car is a bit removed from stock you should at least consider an aftermarket (read, accurate) gauge.

Mike, I just looked the sender part number up in the Porsche parts manual (the online PET) and see that the original part number has been superseded to the 993 part number. In other words, any sender that you buy new from Porsche will carry the 993 number.
