Data logging with AEM X-series UEGO?
I'm installing an X series wideband and it has 0-5v output for a serial port. I would like to log RPM, boost and AFR on my laptop. What's the easiest way to do this? I guess I need a data logger? What do I need on my computer? I have Windows 7 and it no longer has hyper terminal which I guess was a program installed by microsoft to allow data logging? I'm good with 12v dc and 110/220 ac circuits but when it comes to electronics I may as well be reading hieroglyphics.

I did a little research. Bare minimum is an AEM AQ-1 logger, AEM boost gauge, wiring harness and then some kind of device to convert the rpm into whatever the logger needs (0-5v?). $700-800, that ain't happenin. Looks like my data acquisition system will be a 0-30 pressure gauge mounted next to the AFR gauge and the gray matter between my ears, at least what's left of it.
