1976 930 Sway bar install...no clearance from transmission support bar

Hi there,

I have a 1976 930 which I got in a partially disassembled state. In remounting the sway bar, I had no problem getting the drop links installed, but the bar hits the lower transmission support bar so I can't install the brackets (with bushings) that bolt to the body (one on each side, two bolts each).

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks

Thans...below is the swaybar system I'm working with...is this what you had? I think they changed to a different one in 1978.

So you just flip the bar over such that the bar end that went into the left side end link will now go into the right side end link instead?

Pics, but you Might have the wrong trans mount. I'll stick my head under mine tonight and see what I can see...

Wait, did you install the drop links to the trailing arms before mounting the bar to the chassis? There is a quite a bit of preload on the bar with car on the ground...

I did install the drop links to trailing arms first. Maybe that's the problem. I'll give it a try. This is a super original, 32,000 mile car, so I doubt the trans mount has been replaced.

So the rear swaybar's shape is unique to the 3.0 930? I tried to find a picture of one but no luck. Any chance you could send a quick pic?
