87 Turbo Special Wishes or aftermarket?

Were boxed rockers, strakes and the front bumper part of the glorious 80s or were these part of a factory package? If factory, do these mods make them more/less/same valuable as a typical Turbo?

Not factory, no place for the jack in the rockers, factory boxed rockers have the plug for the jack just like standard rocker moldings.

Hurts the value

Thanks! Does that mean the strakes are aftermarket too? Easy to take off the rockers.

Hey Van, thanks.

40K miles on the car, really lovely condition overall.

Assuming engine is strong, what would be a good price for this car?

Wrong and right.. everyone jumps on the lack of a jack-point hole as being non-factory. You have to check it.. many requested the jack point welded close for a smoother look. Check the back side of the rocker to see if the hole was closed.

Hi Shaun
It is really hard to say. It seems the turbo market is not as crazy as it was. BAT just had a 37K 86 turbo no sell at 85K but who knows if that was real money or not

Thanks, I knew the bubble was softening across the board but thought the Turbo market was least effected. I may still be, there are always blips and anomalies. I'll try to get it for $60K.

You want me to pay more for it?

It's an 87. It's not my style but I sort of want to buy it. I had an 84 M491 in Slate Grey Metallic that was as elegant and beautiful as it was slow. Can't do a color change but a Guards Red "normal" Turbo is beautiful if not somewhat overcompensating.

Sorry misread that... I thought that was your selling price

I had a M491 . Turned it into a 3.4 . 87 so it had a G50. If it was a coupe I would have kept it

There should have been a law prohibiting Targa widebodies.

Here is an 86 I bought 3 years ago for 54K. 42K miles Put the stock radio back in it. It had one dimple so I had my paintless dent removal guy take it out and he proceeded to show me stuff I did not see so he spent a few hours on the car .

It was a cab. Did I get the designation wrong?

I did own a 1987 turbo targa. Special order pearl white. Was beautiful but I had issues with the car. Porsche was based out of Reno in N America at the time and the rep came down to check it out. It was just an abnormally bad car chassis wise. They made it right and I ended up with dark green cab.

No, I just assumed Targa since I would keep a Cab as much as I would a Coupe.
