cylinder head temp

What are you EFI guys using for head temps? I'm using this Bosch 1 wire sender on head #1. It quit yesterday while out on a drive, 2 hrs from home, had to limp back running super rich. Anyone have luck with the 2 wire Bosch ?

We've been using the 2-wire Bosch exclusively. Zero failures. Tracks temps very accurately.

Installed

Similar placement as factory 3.2 Carrera and 964/993, only no head machining required.
Easy to install. Check your measurements before cutting the opening in the #3 cylinder tin as there's slight variations in castings.

Chris, I think you have a better location for the sensor, I have mine on cylinder head #1. Installing the temp sensor under the fan shroud subjects the sensor to too many different conditions, such as idle/heat soak, and cold weather conditions that we suffer from in Canada, which makes it very hard to adjust the ECU to have good AFR's across the heat ranges. I think I'm going to swap to your location...

Yes, I can see that being swayed by ambient air temp based on where you have it located.

We checked this installation's readings against readings from sensors threaded directly into the head as per factory, and it tracks perfectly.

And since many customers are converting to EFI *after* their engine is already assembled, this method of mounting allows them to install a CHT sensor without any major engine disassembly for head machining.

I machined thread for CHT into a cylinder head, bought 1 wire Bosch unit and soldered a ground wire in addition so that the readings are not distorted by ground issues.
