No idle after rebuild

Dears:

This is frustrating. '89 Euro Turbo (Stock) has no idle after piston/ring/valve guide job. I wish I could narrow down the question, but regretfully I can't. WUR is freshly rebuilt. Any trouble shooting SOP?

Well, with what limited info you gave, it could be a number of issues. So assuming that you did not alter or adjust the fuel head, idle adjustment screw, etc., etc,.

Your engine will be tight, until break-in has been completed, so low idle might be challenging.

Secondly, a probable vacuum leak would be my first thought.

Valve adjustment could be incorrect, maybe too tight, yielding valves hanging open slightly???

Ignition timing would be good to verify as well.

Worst case scenario, would be cam timing incorrectly set during assembly.

Any one, or a combo of the above would yield your poor idle results, and I'm sure others will chime in with more possibilities.
