car is running great

as you know I have had issues with a very "rich" idle and a lean cruise at 3k (my test RPM). idle was in the 10's to 11's and cruise was 15-17, depending on mixture setting.

I bought a color tune to verify if mixture was truly as rich as the LM said.
so sunday I dropped the CP to 3.2 and dropped the mixture to the point of surging and then backed it off, all with the colortune in there.
I could see it start to go a bit yellow as it would start to surge so I leaned it to the point of no surging and a blue flame with maybe a tad or hint of yellow every now and then.

drove and now cruise is in the low 14to mid14's. now it sounds a feels like what I have been looking for. idle is about 10.3

going to check boost AFR then sell it. just kidding.

i don't know if i set the mixture this rich with the lower CP setting. with the color tune verifying the burn, i feel better about being so rich at idle.
i have been running about 10.6 at 3.6bar. it ran good but i could still hear something. BTW, no one else ever heard what i did.

That is a very low AFR idle. An idle adjust won't affect your cruise AFR much (slightly). Does the engine sound happier with an idle AFR a bit higher (12 ish?). They are all a bit different and as the engine ages they tend to like more fuel. But mine is happy around 12. 13 gets a bit rough, and 11 gets sluggish (labouring).

Yeah, my eyes water in the 10's. I can barely start it with it that low and it runs best with the cold startup idle in the low 12's, and then warms up and ends up right in the mid 14s at idle when fully at temp.
It's amazing how different these cars can be.

it does not smell rich and it does NOT like a mixture in the 12's. that's what has been very strange about this.
also the reason for the color tune, which I also put in each cylinder to confirm I did not have one that was rich or lean. all looked good.
plugs also look good even if I pull them at idle.

for the first time since I bought the car the WUR is now bolted back down and pressure gauges are removed. (they have not been in there the entire time).

Yes I remember you wondered if the AFR was wrong. It is a bit odd. Mine idles on the rich side, but even 11.0 it is labouring a bit.
